Oh, oh yeah. The climax of the hopeless campaign was that the fact that we couldn’t use our magic was all in our heads. Woooow. The DM made 30 years pass by all for us to discover that.
However, in other news, me and Steve dueled in a one on one match to decide who would become the next A Rank, as the last A Rank was promoted to S Equal and the S Equal was promoted to Clan Leader as the Old Man left on a personal mission.
Well, anyways, we didn’t reach the one on one match until we took out the other eight A Equals. But when the fight started, I threw out Ascalon and only fought with Thanatos. I was put at a heavy disadvantage when Steve activated Demon Form BEFORE I combat locked him.
The disadvantage being— even though I’m a Paladin and he’s a Sorcerer…. his base weapon attack does 1d100+100 damage. Yeah. However, the gods truly shone upon me when I rolled three 20s in a row. Yeah, the odds of that are so unlikely, it’s crazy.
I came out victor, but Steve wasn’t mad at me, even though he’s a power monger. He congratulated me, actually.
During the course of the campaign, Menace and I developed a very nice relationship of older brother and little sister even though Menace is older than me, I believe. Steve, however, was so hell bent on boning her, it really upset me when I began to create this kind of relationship with her.
Anyways, at the end, we ended up destroying the Sky after we figured out it was all in our heads… but now, Tobias was still on the loose, so we wait for him to make his next move…
Am I really going to have to recap 11 hours of playing? Yeah, yeah?
Okay, no. I can sum it up in saying we finished a whole entire campaign.
You know that you’ve become way too powerful when your DM goes out of his way to actually tell you that he’s not going to make you any stronger.
I mean, I can relate. The only way we’d actually get stronger if we became gods. I should find an Incubator and become Meguka, hehe.
I’m surprised out of the three of us, none of us are any good at drawing.
I know I can’t do shit and I’m not sure about Steve, but I think Christian is taking an art class in college, and I think it’s for the purpose of this actually. I always did want to have good art drawn of this.
It’s a little more realistic than us when we talking about having a game or an anime being made out of this. That’s a bit far off.
I don’t think I’ve ever asked Christian if he’s ever made an actual built out map for the Nine Realms and the Forgotten Realm. I don’t think he could do it. Maps are huge.
And we’ve been to a lot of places, it might get out of hand.
Well, he is writing a story of the history of Naga Sadou. He’s spent 6 years crafting this together. I’m pretty sure if he’s done that, he could do anything.
I really respect Christian’s creativity, I mean; I’m not afraid to say that this has become part of his life.
I would like to visit Ivory City and the Dark Dragon Enclave, because not only would that be totally awesome, I could meet all these psychopaths who individually have more power than an average army.
That would be awesome.
Okay, so I met with Christian earlier before invited Steve over to get some things out of the way, like intense training.
Lloyd’s previous weapon and shield had been Reaver and Aegis, which had the ability to manipulate the user’s blood and block killing strikes respectively. I had felt that my loyalty to the light had become boring. As such, I decided to read on becoming a Dark Paladin. I climbed the mountain that housed the Dragon’s vault so I could toss the weapons. Since it was nighttime as I reached the top, I decided to rest in the house that was there for training mages and Dragons. During the night, I was heard a noise on the roof, only to find Jolt, or Lyndis, watching the stars. She told me she came there everyday to watch the stars, since the mountain had an amazing view, and basically threatened me if I told anyone. Jolt is known for incredible strength for a woman of the clan and her lightning fast speed that she only limits herself by wearing her mother’s amulet.
I tasked myself to destroy a church of my previous deity, so I traveled to Brinford, a city that has already seen enough misfortune from Lloyd and Ike in the past, and tested out the new powers of Dragonslayer, Askalon’s blade. As such, I renamed his sword Askalon. Both as a remembrance and because it was a badass name. I channeled the essence of a Red Dragon within the blade and my body lit on fire and the sword, as well as myself, could project Red Dragon flames.
I returned for my next task after destroying the church. I had to find a new evil deity to worship. Unknowing of any souls evil enough, I ventured to hell to find an evil soul to pledge my allegiance to. As I descended hell, I was in the middle of being eaten by a spider before I broke free. This was AFTER I fell from so high I broke every bone in my body. As I reached the bottom, I had to sneak past the Judges of Hell in order to enter the Well of Souls to find someone.
Ironically, I chose Lloyd’s Grandfather as a suitable deity to worship. The only man I knew who was so evil. As I tried to escape hell, I gave his soul a temporary vessel and asked him to distract the judges as I escaped. As I left, one of the three judges pursued me up hell, actually managing to intersect me when I almost reached the top and slice me in two. Thankfully for the Pearl, I survived. I left hell and found the altar of my Grandfather that he had made in the Metal City. From there on out, I became a Dark Paladin, or a Ravager as I called it.
When I returned to the Enclave, I began crafting my new weapon. Something suitable for someone of my allegiance; a scythe. The scythe I had crafted from pure obsidian I had named Thanatos and wielded it and Askalon proudly.
After meeting Ike, we decided to investigate sightings of asteroids; the shooting stars. As we followed the two that had fallen, Ike had found a parasite that ate it’s way into the Earth, and I found, to my discontent, and unconscious Tobias Kronvist.
We brought him back to the jail of Ivory City for questioning, only to find that his memory has been wiped, but he was spared by Naga Sadou. Seeing him as a little worry, we returned to the Enclave, where we learned that the Old Man was hosting a tournament to test our skills after the huge Tobias incident previous.
Ike and Lloyd entered as a pair and destroyed everyone on their way to the finals, save for two matches. The pairs were Chaos and Menace, two irradiated Unstables, and Swift and Cildor. The latter being a difficult match. In the finals, they faced Ruin and Glory; the Sisters of Fate. Ruin being the strongest woman in the world possibly, and Glory, the strongest healer. Glory put up a strong fight against Lloyd, using her power to manipulate all living things to her advantage, while Ike faced off against Ruin. Ike managed to subdue Ruin using his ultimate move imbued with Joy’s, the Spellmaster’s ultimate move, the Lifestream. Using the Lance of Longinus and the Lifestream fused into one spell, he struck Ruin with all of her regrets, instantly subduing her. In the mess, Lloyd was able to completely strike down Glory, cutting her into two with the immense force of Askalon and his own immense strength. However, the two being extremely powerful, they recovered from the incident and forfeited.
However, as the tournament closed, there was a disturbance in the world. The Old Man called for all of his strongest to investigate cities around the world. Ike and Lloyd traveled to the Elven city of Elvenheim and found another strange asteroid and parasite. As soon as they found the parasite, it exploded and the sky turned black. As they tried to escape Elvenheim, they learned that they could no longer cast any spells or use any form of magic. Also, they were being attacked by zombies of former humans. They managed to find a ship and escape, with all hope being lost. After weeks of traveling, they managed to find land, where they had gathered food and water and found Strings, the only S-Rank equal in the clan. However, without his magic, he was just a bard without agility or strength.
Within months of travel, the three touched down on an island that they had been before in previous travels; an island infested with dinosaurs. As they searched for food and water, Lloyd had found a single bottle of wine. It should be noted that Lloyd is an extreme alcoholic, while Ike found one of the Unstables: Menace. Menace, without the magic energy in her body, looked like just a normal girl. Very frail with very little athletic ability, only learning how to walk when they met her.
They set off again, and began receiving messages from the Old Man, indicating that they had abandoned the Enclave and gave them coordinates for a meeting spot. However, short a map, they regarded the Old Man as “completely useless”. They finally reached land in another island they had seen before. This island had a volcano on one side and an icy mountain on the other. Where a Red Dragon and Silver Dragon did not get along very well. The four made their way quickly, where Lloyd had killed a Gazelle for food and they escaped before the Dragons noticed they were gone.
Finally, they found an abandoned city which was loaded with fish and alcohol, much to Lloyd’s liking. As they were about to leave, however, Ike saw the shadow of a man and began pursuing, only to find Annihilator, one of the A-Ranks. However, Annihilator had been without contact for six months so, in turn, went insane. However, Annihilator was already extremely physically strong to begin with; the strongest man in the clan, so he made for an essential survival tool— if he had his mind in tact.
And so, they set off again, not knowing where they would land this time…
I guess I should probably cover how the Dark Dragon system works really quick.
Dark Dragons basically function like a primitive system of rank, with S-Rank being the greatest. There are only three A-Ranks appointed at one time. Each member is given a title to represent their character, as a form of respect. The Dragons are the ones who maintain order and balance within the world, going on missions to help keep the world as it is. They are basically the guardians of the world, knowing everything about it.
At this time in the campaign, Ike and Lloyd are A Rank substitutes, meaning they equal an A-Rank and will substitute their position if the other A-Ranks are on a mission or absent. Rank can be raised via missions or showing competence.
The S-Rank is a man we refer to as The Old Man, but his real name is Mathias Darkwright. A complete savage who looks basically like a barbarian, complete with the fur pelts.
The old S-Rank was a man named Naga Sadou, who is basically missing in action as he disappeared from the timeline completely and mysteriously one day, but still appointing Mathias Darkwright as the new S-Rank.
In our most recent, and probably the most intense campaign, a man named Tobias Kronvist faced us. The campaign before us was about the pursuing of a name named Eric, a previous Dark Dragon who became a Lich and tried to destroy the Dragons for “losing it’s sanctity”. As Ike destroyed the phylactery, Lloyd killed Eric and claimed his head as a prize of war. Afterwards, the Dragons received a cryptic message from Eric, stating that it wasn’t over.
Most certainly, the S-Ranks and A-Ranks went to investigate a disturbance in hell, only all to be found dead. As the clan’s healer, Glory, began to restore their souls, Ike, Lloyd, and Crystal, the Old Man’s granddaughter, met Tobias, an interesting spellcaster who can’t cast spells and also seemed on the slow side, being completely unaware of the world’s vastness.
At this point in time, Lloyd had recovered the Metal Pearl from Ike, who had stolen it from The Grandfather’s grave in order to become more powerful. The Pearl had returned to it’s rightful inheritor, or Lloyd. Tobias fought the three, showing little fighting prowess, but unleashing the most powerful attack they had ever seen; the purest form of magic. Unleashing the attack, Tobias had punched Ike’s head off and soon crushed Lloyd’s head on the ground. However, with the Metal Pearl’s powers, Lloyd regenerated and put Ike back together using his demonic sword.
Tobias retreated. After preparing for a counterattack, Tobias learned that the only way to defeat us would be to learn how to cast spells. Consequently, Tobias entered the Dragon’s library, which harbored every single piece of information in the world and absorbed all of it and escaping. He returned soon after to cast The Last Resort, a spell that begins a countdown to Armageddon.
As we began to attempt a counterattack, the world went black and white, losing it’s light. The only way we decided we could defeat Tobias would be to find Naga Sadou from the timeline. As such, we constructed a time machine, only to be stopped by two resurrected souls, Askalon, the Dragonslayer, and the grandmother of the Titarius family, one of the clan’s strongest families. With the final members of the Dark Dragons giving their lives for Lloyd and Ike to enter the time machine, they reached the chamber of the Dark Dragon’s S-Rank; the last place they had seen Naga Sadou.
When Lloyd and Ike entered the Dragon’s, it was still under Naga Sadou’s command. However, one day during an assembly, Naga Sadou was veiled off where he was speaking to Shadow, one of the S-Ranks. The last thing we saw as fledgling Dragons was Naga Sadou speaking to two men and suddenly vanishing. When Lloyd and Ike entered the time machine, we had been the ones to meet with Naga Sadou. In essence, fixing a continuity error. Naga Sadou, being the strongest spellcaster in the possibly the galaxy had traveled to Tobias’ lair where he faced off against him. Ike and Lloyd unleashed all of their power againt Askalon, the Titarius woman, and the newly revived Eric. As Naga Sadou claimed victory, Lloyd claimed Askalon’s sword, which contained the power to channel the very essence of a dragon through it and control it, and Ike claimed relics of the Titarius family. Naga Sadou returned the two to their time to see it completely renewed; as if nothing ever happened.
And this is where we had last left off before the events of Saturday, August 27th.
I like the base blog. It has a nice way of putting everything for massive walls of text, which is probably all this blog is going to be.
Anyways, to recap our adventures thus far of this campaign me and two of my friends have been adventuring on since 7th grade, I will begin with a few introductions.
I play a Paladin named Lloyd, who is, naturally, Lawful Good. I have a friend named Steve who plays a Sorcerer named Ike who, after a long time of evil, I believe is now Chaotic Neutral. And finally, I have Nick, who plays a cleric named Merlin, who I actually don’t know his alignment because he rarely plays anymore anyways. I’M CALLING YOU OUT NICK, I’M GONNA MAKE YOUR READ THIS.
Anyways, possibly the most important middle school event that happened was the occurence of E-Day, which was, yes, stolen from Gears of War. Our DM, Christian, has stolen a lot more than a name from GoW, but that’s just minor details.
I’ll be talking in third person for this, so things feel more fantasy-esque. Lloyd’s grandfather is an amazing spellcaster. However, previous to this encounter, we have met him several times and he has, yes, kicked our ass. He actually, though, taught us high level spells that we can’t abuse because they literally shave time off our life.
Just like a normal adventure, the traveler’s heard of a metallic pearl that apparently granted it’s user amazing powers, so then began the Search for the Metal Pearl. It was a massive scavenger hunt with almost thousands of people searching for it. Finally, they sailed to Pearl Island to find it. When they arrived though, they encountered Lloyd’s grandfather who too wanted the pearl’s powers. However, between the power hungry sorcerer and the righteous paladin and cleric, the three began fighting on what to do with it, while Lloyd’s grandfather actually stole it within the midst of the fighting.
Afterwards, Lloyd’s grandfather went on a murderous rampage, abusing the pearl’s powers to manipulate metal and all it’s forms. The Gods were angry that a man with such power existed for evil, so they banished him to hell. However, with all the power he contained, he climbed out of hell. The traveler’s pursued Lloyd’s grandfather to the world below in order to halt his escape, where they were met with the armies of below that also tried to stop his escape. In all the fighting, they managed to knock him back down into hell. Without a choice left, Merlin summoned the Holy Order and actually collapsed the entrance to hell. With hell being an entirely different realm, such imbalance in the world actually shattered the realms back into it’s original nine pieces.
After all the fighting, they agreed that his reign had ended, and the traveler’s part ways for seven years. Seven years later, Ike visited the town where he and Lloyd had met; Grayhawk, only to find the place in shambles and incarcerated with metal, with a giant hole leading down. Fearing for the worst, he realized that the destruction of hell actually aided Lloyd’s grandfather. He was met with metallic revenants and The Grandfather, the name Lloyd’s elder took for himself, and captured, where he was brought back to his lair.
Lloyd and Merlin had already met up with Ike previous to this, but upon hearing the news of this, they were shocked. The Grandfather made his appearance and waged total war against the world. Halfway through the war, Merlin too was captured. Initially, Ike wanted to escape from being prisoner, but after the Grandfather turned him into a revenant, Ike actually enjoyed his new found power and stayed loyal to the Grandfather. Merlin was tortured for not accepting his fate. Lloyd, alone with only the forces of humanity to help was, to his surprise, assisted by armies of Dragons. The one leading the assault was Thorn, a friend Copper Dragon Lloyd had raised from his birth.
After meeting with Thorn, the metallic forces still proved to be too much, so they all fled to the depths of the Earthen City, where Lloyd made the final stand. He infiltrated the metallic camp in order to rescue Merlin. However, he encountered the newly appointed Admiral Metallic Ike and began fighting. However more powerful Ike was in this form, Lloyd defeated him and brought him and Merlin back to the Earthen City. As the Grandfather attempted to storm the city, Lloyd faced his Grandfather on the fields of battle. Before, Lloyd had already attempted to kill the Grandfather by cutting his head off. Unfortunately, his head regenerated. Not knowing any other way to kill him, he struck at the place that made any man, sane or not, human; the heart. Much to Lloyd’s avail, the Grandfather fell and the metallic army was forced to retreat. After the metallic army was dissipated, Merlin and Ike learned that they could still freely channel the metal energy within their bodies. Even with the Pearl lost, Lloyd also freely gained the power to manipulate metal, although at a lesser extent than his Grandfather could. He also gained command of the metallic army, but that is not until a later time.
Following the victory of E-Day, Lloyd and Merlin had visited the Dragon’s Library to thank them, only to be met with a mysterious assailant, one of many to come. Ike and another traveler, Marcus, met up with the other two and managed to cut down their assassin who went by the name of Quill. After killing Quill, they met their second assassin who went by the name of Quickarrow. Quickarrow was on a completely different level than any other fighter they had encountered before, easily beating them down. From there on, Ike gained a lead on Quickarrow’s faction; the Dark Dragons. After months of research and tailing them, he finally found their enclave and joined their ranks. Afterwards, he found us and requested that we too join the ranks of the Dark Dragons.
Everything else we could say is history. We have spent the good portion of four years in the Dragons, with many other adventures that we went on. While I would love to recap those, I don’t think it’s entirely necessary. To chronicle it in a less story form, I’ll say this:
Lloyd, Ike, and Merlin all grew exponentially more powerful, stronger than any normal campaign character could ever reach. The powers and finesse they have gained could probably take down an entire other d&d party by themselves blindfolded and naked. Pretty much. Now I can start recapping what happens on a day to day basis, or whenever we play.
Also, fun fact, the blog is named Ivory City because that’s the city where the Enclave is hidden. In the Forgotten Realm, that is, not connected with the other nine pieces.
